Devenind femeia visurilor lui

Asa-i ca suna bine titlul acestei postari... :D ...

Living a holy life

Clearly, God considers living a life of holiness to be extreamly important. Dr. M. R. DeHaan, a famous radio Bible teachear, used a helpful illustration to communicate the value of holiness. A bar of steel worth $5 can yield any of the following: If it is made into horseshoes, it will be worth $10. If it is made into needles, the value becomes $350. If it is made into delicate springs for expensive watches, it will yield $250,000. We are like that $5 bar of steel. Our commitment to holiness will determine whether we become Christians of minimal, moderate, or significant spiritual influence.
We cannot become holy through self-effort but only through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Victory by faith

Most people seek mountaintop experiences with God. But we often forget that the real mountaintops are usually barren because plant life does not grow freely at elevated heights. Likewise, spiritual mountaintops, though pleasurable for a time, are not places where believers grow. We must therefore recognize the fallacy of seeking emotional experiences and spiritual heights, and instead rejoice in what God is doing in our lives through trials, knowing that trials are His way of refining us.
Our faith in the midst of trials can produce amazing results.

Surrender your will by faith

As a young believer, I was influenced by a verse from the Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are those who hunger and thrist for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied" (Matthew 5:6, NASB). I hungered and thirsted  after righteousness with all my heart. I spent long days of fasting and prayer, and crying out to God for His power to be released in and through my life. Then God graciously answered me by helping me to understand that the emotional experience that I was seeking was not His priority for me. Through my study of the Bible I realized He was calling me to live a life of faith as an act of my will in obedience to His commands.
This is a hard concept to grasp in our culture. We have been taught that experience is the priority in life. We search for a career that makes us happy. We marry because we feel romantic love. We develop relationships with people who make us feel good.
God does not devalue emotions. In fact, sometimes feelings are the way that God gets our attention, moves us, and makes us aware of His presence. But experiences and emotions are unreliable. they change and cannot be sustained. They also can lead us in the wrong direction. God wants us to enjoy our emotions, but He expects us to build our faith on our will.
God's Word changed me and helped me to see that He wanted me to surrender my will to Him. When I did that, I drew on the supernatural resources that are available to me through Christ. My hunger and thirst were fulfilled, and I have enjoyed many wonderful years of adventurous walking with Christ.

Faith

The great reformer John Calvin observed:
” Faith is not a distant view, but a warm embrace, of Christ, by which he dwells in us, and we are filled with the Divine Spirit.” I like this definiton because it balances the intelectual and relational sides of faith. Faith is more than mental agreement with God; it assumes a beautiful and warm relationship with Christ. We do not merely believe in Him; we cling to Him. We began our Christian life through faith in Christ; we live our spiritual life by walking in faith.
Faith is the key to our spiritual development. The Bible tells us: ” Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God...” (Romans 10:17,NKJV). The Bible changes our lives because it feeds and challenges our faith. And when we exercise that faith, we see the power of God.

Inside a Bible

Inscription found inside Billy Sunday's Bible:
" Twenty-nine years ago, with the Holy Spirit as  my Guide, I entered at the portico of Genesis, walked down the corridor of the Old Testament art galleries, where pictures of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Isaac, Jacob and Daniel hung on the wall. I passed into the music room of the Psalms where the Spirit sweeps the keyboard of nature until it seems that every reed and pipe in God's great organ responds to the harp of David, the sweet singer of Israel.
I entered the chambers of Ecclesiastes, where the voice of the preacher is heard, and into the conservatory of Sharon and the lilly of the valley where sweet spices filled and perfumed my life.
I entered into the business office of Proverbs and on into the observatory of the prophets, where I saw telescopes of various sizes pointing to far-off events, concentrating on the bright and morning Star, which was to rise above the moonlit hills of Judea for our salvation and redemption.
I entered the audience room of the King of kings, catching a vision written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Thence into the correspondence room with Paul, Peter and John writing their Epistles.
I stepped into the throne room of Revelation, where tower the glittering peaks, where sits the King of kings upon His throne of glory with the healing of nations in His hand, and I cried out:
All hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of all! "

The Bible guides the growth of our faith. The great american evangelist Dwight L. Moody was instrumental in bringing thousands of people to Christ. He once wrote: ” I prayed for faith and thought that some day faith would come down and strike me like lightning. But faith did not seem to come. One day I read in the tenth chapter of Romans, ” Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” I had up to this time closed my Bible and prayed for faith. I now opened my Bible and began to study, and faith has been growing ever since. ”
God's Word guides our faith. We can attempt great things for God when our faith is grounded on the truths in His Word. We need to study the Word carefully and interpret it correctly so that we not only possess its truth, but its truth possesses us.

It has been said, " Touch the Bible anywhere, and you touch Christ somewhere." Only by divine, supernatural revelation and inspiration could those who preached and taught hundreds of years before Christ walked the earth depict His person and work with such astounding accuracy!
When I think of how much the Bible honors and exalts Christ, I am reminded of the poignant words of Saint Patrick, who said: " Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger." Dear friends, this is my prayer for you as well as for myself - that you too will be full of Christ. But this will not happen unless you are first full of His Word.

Inscription

Inscription found inside a Gideon's Bible:
" This Book is the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its percepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's character. Here paradise is restored, heaven is opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end.It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.
Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. Follow its percepts and it will lead you to Calvary, to the empty tomb, to a resurrected life in Christ; yes, to glory itself, for eternity. "
